It was a landmark night for Ché Adams as the Southampton striker scored his first international goal in Scotland’s 4-0 win over Faroe Islands at Hampden Park.
Earning his third cap having only made his debut last Thursday, Adams started the game and crowned a strong display with his side’s third goal on the hour mark.
Receiving the ball with his back to goal, he turned sharply and drilled a low shot into the bottom corner from 20 yards.
Aston Villa’s John McGinn scored twice, while Newcastle winger Ryan Fraser was also on target in a convincing victory that leaves Scotland second in their World Cup qualifying group, unbeaten after three matches.
Elsewhere, there was late pain for Jan Bednarek, as Poland gave England a fright at Wembley, only for Harry Maguire to strike a late winner in a 2-1 victory for the Three Lions.
Bednarek’s club skipper James Ward-Prowse was not involved for the hosts, having returned to Southampton as a fitness precaution.
Jannik Vestergaard watched from the bench as Denmark won in impressive fashion, 4-0 in Austria, taking them four points clear at the top of Scotland’s group, for whom Stuart Armstrong was an unused substitute.
There were more valuable minutes for Alex Jankewitz in the Under-21 European Championships, but Switzerland were eliminated from the competition after a 3-0 defeat to group winners Portugal.
