Scotland clinched a World Cup play-off spot with a game in hand thanks to a clinical victory in Moldova, where Ché Adams was one of two scorers on the night.

Nathan Patterson eased tension with his first Scotland goal, and then turned provider, teeing up Adams to round off a superb team move in the second period, with the striker arriving at the back post to lash home a measured cross.

Stuart Armstrong also played his part, completing 75 minutes of the 2-0 victory, before making way for Kevin Nisbet.

A fifth straight victory for Steve Clarke's side opens an unassailable seven-point gap - with Denmark already qualified as Group F winners.

Their qualifying campaign will conclude against the Danes at Hampden on Monday, needing a point to secure a home semi-final in the play-offs.
