Sports Science Summit 2023

The Sports Science Summit will provide current undergraduate students with a valuable insight into the work being done on a daily basis by the performance support department in an elite environment at Southampton Football Club. This unique and interactive experience will cover topics spanning the wide range of disciplines in our department which aim to support player development and the opportunity to discuss these topics with members of the performance support department at the club. Disciplines within the department and topics presented on during the day will include sports science, rehab and strength and conditioning, performance nutrition, performance psychology, performance analysis and more across the 1st Team, Women’s and Academy settings.

This year the summit will be held at the clubs world class training facility 'Staplewood Campus' in Marchwood, where the full day experience will aim to give undergraduates an opportunity to learn from and interact with members of the performance support department throughout the day. There will be tea breaks and a free lunch included to discuss key topics in the area of sports science and performance support in addition to preparing those pursuing opportunities within professional sport or seeking placements within the industry.

This event is for undergraduate students only with valid ID and there are a limited number of spaces available (70 max). So book your place today!

The schedule for the day is currently planned to be 10am - 5pm (subject to change):

Warm up: Arrival Refreshments from 9:30am.

1^st Half: Key note presentations including Nutrition, Return to Play Rehab, S&C across the club, Performance Psychology and the Learning Lab.

Half time: Lunch included.

2^nd Half: Practical afternoon session including Performance Analysis, Gym Session, Testing Protocols and more.

Extra Time: Q&A.

Do I have to show my student verification?

Please note this event is for students only. Please bring your student ID with you on the day matching the name on your ticket in order to gain entry.

Can I buy more than one ticket?

No, it is 1 ticket per person.

How can I get involved?

There will be opportunity for you the interact with speakers on the day during refreshment breaks and in breakout demonstrations, as well as lots of opportunities to ask questions following presentations.

What is the refund policy?

Tickets are non-refundable or non-transferable. In the case of failure to show valid student ID and refusal to entry, no refund will be provided.
