Southampton pair Danny Ings and James Ward-Prowse have kept their places in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the forthcoming trio of internationals.

Ings has been rewarded for starting the new season as he left off in 2019/20, scoring three goals in Saints’ first three Premier League games, including last week’s winner at former club Burnley.

Saints skipper Ward-Prowse joins his club teammate in the 30-man squad after making his first start for the Three Lions in Iceland last month.

Both players will hope for a significant chance to impress, with England in action three times in the space of seven days at Wembley, and rotation between fixtures inevitable.

First up is a friendly against Wales on Thursday 8th October, before a Nations League double-header, starting with Belgium on Sunday 11th October, who top the FIFA world rankings, and finally Denmark on Wednesday 14th October, who held England to a goalless draw in Copenhagen.

Elsewhere, there are critical Euro 2020 play-off semi-finals on the horizon for Saints duo Stuart Armstrong and Shane Long, as Scotland host Israel and Republic of Ireland travel to Slovakia.

Jannik Vestergaard could face Ings and Ward-Prowse, having been selected by Denmark, while Jan Bednarek is in the Poland squad. Both Denmark and Poland have already secured automatic qualification for Euro 2020.
