A delighted Radhi Jaïdi spoke of the pride in his Under-23s players after they celebrated promotion into the top flight of Premier League 2.
Saints' youngsters regained their place in Division One with a 2-1 victory over Newcastle United in the play-off final, at St Mary's, capping an incredible season in spectacular fashion.
For their coach, Jaïdi, it was a night to treasure.
"I'm really, really pleased with the boys' performance throughout the season," he said. "The way they've matured and improved in many aspects, that's what I'm pleased for.
"I said to the boys, we need to finish it off and win something this season. That will stay in our memories and make a legacy for them before either they go into the first-team here, or somewhere else.
"I thank the boys a lot for their trust that they give me and the commitment they put in. The staff sacrificed a lot, and our families.
"The fans who came today and supported us, they didn't let us down. Hopefully that will encourage them to come more and hopefully we can build on what happened this season for the future."

That future will see Saints once again playing in Division One of Premier League 2, and it is a challenge Jaïdi is already relishing.
"It's exciting," he said. "A very big task for us all. We're going to play against the highest level in Premier League 2, the better players and better set-ups and academies.
"We will have time to think about it. For the moment we need just to digest the achievement we made as an Under-23s group this season, have a little breather and go back again."
