Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhüttl hailed another important three points as his side made it back-to-back wins in the Premier League at Huddersfield Town.
Goals from Nathan Redmond, Danny Ings and Michael Obafemi earned a 3-1 success in Yorkshire and moved Saints up to 16th in the table.
And Hasenhüttl was pleased by another clear sign of improvement and development under his stewardship.
“If you look at the table you know how important the three points were because there are now three points between us and the club in 18th,” he reflected.
“It was important against a team that was never giving up and we knew how tough it would be here to win. To win away is another step in our development and it was important to show ourselves we had the quality to do so.
“We had the same shape as last week but we knew we would face more long balls. They were really uncompromising in defence, but also when we had our chances.
“The first goal was perfectly played and I’m very happy for Redmond that he scored. I think with his quality it’s a perfect run, he has to do it a lot more often. I’m happy!”
