Steven Davis will travel with the Southampton squad to Leicester City for Thursday night’s Premier League clash, after returning to training from injury.
Saints boss Mark Hughes also revealed in his pre-match press conference that he will be without Mario Lemina and Sofiane Boufal for the trip to King Power Stadium, through injury and illness respectively.
“We’ve got a couple of omissions – Mario Lemina has got an issue with his back, which is affecting his hamstring,” said Hughes. “Sofiane Boufal is ill, but apart from that we should be ok.”
Davis’s return to the travelling party comes as a boost for Hughes, with the club captain having been out through injury since mid-February.
While he hasn’t had much time under his belt on the training pitch, Hughes explained the midfielder could be in contention to feature at King Power Stadium.
“Steven Davis is back in the group,” he said. “He hasn’t trained a great deal, but he’s trained the last couple of days, so he’ll be travelling.”
