After returning from a year-long injury absence, 21-year-old Jake Hesketh has strung together a series of eye-catching performances for Southampton's Under-23s, earning him a nomination for November's Premier League 2 Player of the Month.

The forward fired a first-half double against Northampton in the Checkatrade Trophy at the beginning of November, before registering his second brace of the month in the 3-3 league draw with Middlesborough.

Hesketh is among five players to be shortlisted, after PL2 club managers nominated the best performance by an opposing player across November.

Joining the Saints nominee are Aston Villa's Harry McKirdy, Norwich City's Adam Phillips, Sunderland's Ethan Robson and Manchester City's Phil Foden.

The winner will be revealed on Friday 15th December.
